These are supported AI board sizes; the selected match format can narrow the choices. A 6×6 board is for Duel. Hell is an optional Nightmare setting under Classic rules. Open the Nightmare and Hell guide before trying the timed challenge.

Want a hard game without a timer?

Choose Hard. It uses tactical search while leaving you time to compare moves. Start on 6×6 for a shorter match or choose 9×9 to practice longer plans. Before placing, check all four line directions and ask whether one cell can extend an attack while interrupting an opponent.

Casual is useful for learning scoring; Smart introduces more immediate tactical pressure. Experimental and Nightmare add a human turn deadline, so learn the scoring rules first. Difficulty is a choice of opponent, not a guarantee that every position has a winning move.

Practice solo, then change the format

Computer setup offers larger formats and lets you choose the AI in each opponent seat. Classic rewards points until the board fills. Combo changes scoring bonuses, while two-player Battle Mode adds attacks and HP.

For a repeatable solo goal, try the Daily Score Trial. To test your ideas against people, create a room using the online multiplayer guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play LinesClash against AI for free?

Yes. Choose Play vs Computer or start a match from this guide. Casual, Smart, Hard, Experimental and Nightmare opponents are available in the browser without a download or required account.

Which AI difficulty should I choose?

Start with Casual to learn the rules, then try Smart or Hard for tougher tactical practice. Casual, Smart and Hard have no human turn timer. Experimental and Nightmare use a 30-second human turn clock and start at 9×9.

Does LinesClash use a chatbot to choose moves?

No. Computer opponents calculate moves using local game-search algorithms in a browser worker. Character banter and voices are presentation settings; changing them does not change the search difficulty.
